The metal detector is useful to detect Metallic objects. it can also detect a slightly big size metallic object. it has a sensing coil which is kept near a metallic object for detection.

when a coil is brought near a metallic object magnetic energy is absorbed and oscillator fails to work.  Then final transistor conducts and buzzer is activated.
